Sitting in the Shower Thinking About my Grump

The Grumper — March 24, 2025

When I was young

I had no tongue

I couldn’t catch the flies

They flew away

To my dismay

Not even a goodbye

And so I sat

Wearing my hat

With my mouth open wide

When they fly south

Pass through my mouth

I wish they could be mine

But now my tongue’s there

And when i catch them stare

I catch them and they die

So here I sit

A block of lead

The window’s moonlit

Water falling on my head

The tongue-less frog

That I once was

I’m now a grump

Only friend is Santa Claus

In bed others ponder

Why’d the chicken cross the road

But oh, I wonder

How much I’d like to be a toad!

Les grenouilles écrabouillent

Mia Roney — January 22, 2025

J’aime les grenouilles

Elles se cachent dans les quenouilles

Quand il mouille,

Elles se débrouillent

Pour se sortir de la dépouille

Parfois elles s’écrabouillent

Là, elles doivent s’exclamer:

OUILLE!

Georgina, my love

Gregorie — October 13, 2024

Georgina your name

is a mix of the two

your eyes are small

and beady too

They remind me of summer foods

bumble crackers and bread soup

but you are better

than the two

TOADS VS FROGS

Myriam — May 13,2024

Toads are just better

They are slimy and gouy and all bumpy on the top

FROGS ARE THE WORST

Toad Love

Nanoisé — April 18, 2024

When I was young

I used to dream of mudless lives

Outside of the Toadlands

I would watch the TV

With nothing but longing

I was too muddy

Too slimy

Too green

My hair wasn’t blonde

It was clear

But when my great toad mother

Passed away

I realized

That I had wasted

My entire

Toadly life

Hating myself

Hating my family

Hating my muddy culture

So the next day

I decided to become a true toad

I sang

Every day

About my toadlieness

Until

One day

I felt

TRUE TOAD PRIDE

I once ate a frog

Alleb — March 21, 2024

I opened my mouth and in came a frog

At first I thought it was a toad and became very sad

But then I felt the lack of bumps and lumps and wonderful goo

I quickly realized it was a frog

And I let a big grin spread on my face

A nice bumpy toad like grin

Oh Great Friends Whoever They Are

Alligator in the Air, Geefa Lee — February 10, 2024

The only friend i ever had

Was a frog!

Of course

Who else?

Who knows…

He was elegant

And smooth

He spent his time listening to music

And me.

All the wonderful times

Singing together

With our great croaky voices

Dancing to the rhythm of the drums

We went to picnics

In the nearby swamps

In the good old times

In the puddles we danced

And in the caves

Surrounded by echos

We sang

I miss Arthog the frog

But don’t worry

He’s dead.

As A Cane Toad

Alligator in the air — February 10, 2024

I woke up as a cane toad.

Everything was wonderful from my bumpy eyes

with which I could really see

the delights of what my friends called “flies”

and from my nose

in which the smell of peanut butter rose

and my little toe filled feet

felt

mud.

How Toads Are Heroes of All Time!!

Geefa Lee — February 7, 2024

Oh toads

With their beautiful toes

Let me tell you a story

Once upon a time

A man saw a toad

Its toes were so gorgeous

That the man was blown

He was blown to into the volcano

And made it erupt

But the poor old toad

SURVIVED!!

He felt so guilty

That he killed that poor man

But he was surrounded by people

Who cheered just for him

Because the man he killed

Was a villain

Who has thrown by now 2236 men into

Volcanoes!

The toad was so happy he completely forgot that he had killed a man

And this is a story that shows how toads are

HEROES!!!

The end of this toadly story.

We Are Toads

alligator in the air — January 20, 2024

We

Are

Toads

Sitting on lily pads

Wortying up

Stretching our tongues

In order to eat more yummy flies

Wondering

Why not everyone

Joins us

To become toads

An Ode to Cheese

emiliethepoet — January 20, 202

Cheese o’cheese

With your fragrant scent

You are the truest of pleasures

You make me content

Cheese o’cheese

You make me lament

For you are quite costly

Now I cannot afford my rent

The Frog who was Consumed by Fog

emiliethepoet — January 17, 2024

There was once a frog

Who lived in a bog

He jumped in the air

And ate people’s hair

Until he was consumed by fog

Roots and Boots

Toadz are Loadz (Of Fun)

Nanoo — January 13, 2024

Toadz are loadz of fun

When you see them run

Smell their feet

If you want a treat

Yes

Ode to Toads

Omrisimo Farisimo — January 7, 2024

Toads

Greasy

Slimy

Lumpy

But they’re the best

When you feel sad

Just think of a toad

When you’re happy

It’s because you’re thinking of one

And when you feel like one,

Happiness

Lumpiness

Greasiness

Fill your toadly heart

And you wish your were in toadland
